Which terms apply to you?
Gora is sold three ways and the seller differs. These are the terms for Gora in a web browser, where you subscribe by card through Stripe. See also web · iPhone & iPad · Android. One privacy policy covers all three.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Gora at gora.academy and app.gora.academy in a web browser ("the Service"), provided by Meadows and Brown Limited, registered in England and Wales (company number 13327945), registered office Second Floor, 57 Brewer Street, London W1F 9UL, United Kingdom ("we", "us", "our"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms.
Bought your subscription inside the iPhone or Android app? Different terms cover that purchase — separate store terms will be published alongside the iPhone/iPad and Android apps.
For Gora on the web your contract is with Meadows and Brown Limited, which is the seller and merchant of record for web subscriptions and appears on your invoices.
You must be at least 16 to create an account. If you are under 18 you confirm a parent or guardian agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
You need an account to save progress. Keep your login details to yourself — you are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at hello@gora.academy if you think someone else has access. You can delete your account at any time from Settings, which deletes your learning data.
Gora teaches Croatian, Serbian, Montenegrin and Bosnian through lessons, exercises, audio and an AI tutor. We are actively building it: lessons, features and prices can change, and we may add, alter or withdraw parts of the Service. We aim to keep it available but we do not promise uninterrupted service.
Do not use Gora to break the law, harass anyone, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems. Do not scrape, bulk-download, resell or redistribute our lessons, audio or content, and do not use them to train a machine-learning model. Do not share your account. We may suspend accounts that do these things.
Gora Plus costs €9.99 per month or €69.99 per year. Payments are taken by Stripe on our behalf; we never see or store your card number. Prices include any VAT we are required to charge in your country. We may change prices and will give at least 30 days' notice by email before a change affects a renewal.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period at the then-current price until you cancel. Your renewal date is shown in the app under Me.
Every new account gets 7 days of full access, free, with no card required. One trial per person.
Cancel any time from Me → Manage subscription, which opens the Stripe billing portal. Cancelling stops the next payment; you keep access to the end of the period you have paid for.
Refunds. Gora is digital content supplied immediately, so by subscribing you ask us to start straight away and acknowledge you lose the statutory 14-day right to cancel once access begins. Even so: if you subscribe by mistake or renew without meaning to, email us within 14 days and we will refund you. Nothing here affects your rights if the Service is faulty or not as described.
The fox is generated by a large language model. It is a practice partner, not a teacher, a translator or an authority — it can be wrong, and it will sometimes produce language a native speaker would not use. Do not rely on it for anything consequential, and never send it personal, financial or medical information. Your messages are sent to our AI provider to generate a reply.
Anything you type or say into Gora stays yours. You give us permission to process it so we can run the Service — sending your message to the AI provider, transcribing your speech, saving your progress. We do not sell it and we do not publish it.
The Service — lessons, text, design, software, the Gora name and the fox character — belongs to Meadows and Brown Limited or its licensors. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it for your own language learning. You may not use our branding or content for anything else without written permission.
Gora relies on services run by others, including Supabase (accounts and data), Google (AI and sign-in), Microsoft (speech), Apple (sign-in and, on iPhone, billing), Resend (email) and PostHog (product analytics). Our privacy policy lists what each one receives.
We provide Gora with reasonable care and skill, but otherwise "as is". We do not promise that using Gora will get you to any particular level, pass any exam, or satisfy any immigration or residency requirement. Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer that cannot be removed by agreement.
We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of opportunity or indirect loss, and our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or €100.
You can stop using Gora and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, or if we have to for legal reasons. If we close your account without good reason, we will refund any unused part of a subscription you have paid for.
We may update these Terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Gora after that means you accept the new terms. If you do not, you can cancel and stop using the Service.
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Disputes go to the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in, and you can bring proceedings there.
